Watercolor Dragon Scales

STORY:
The client envisioned a captivating watercolor dragon scale print for a new collection, offering two distinct color options to evoke different moods. One version was to feature earthy tones, with sand shades, browns, and muted golds, while the other was to embrace soft, romantic rose shades, blending pinks, lilacs, and warm neutrals. The design needed to capture the fluidity and texture of dragon scales, created with delicate watercolor washes and subtle gradients. The scales were painted with intricate detailing, showcasing a modern approach and the organic flow of color across the design. I focused on creating a sense of depth, with each scale gently blending into the next, allowing the colors to flow seamlessly. The earthy version conveyed a grounded, natural feel, while the rose-toned version brought an ethereal, soft elegance. The watercolor technique added a sense of fluidity and lightness to the overall print, while maintaining the mystique and power associated with dragons. This print was used for the backside wings part of the Dragon Dress and printed in 100% silk.
