STORY:
The client envisioned a whimsical and ethereal patch print for a spring collection, an update for the really successful patch print from Fall 2020. The design was to feature flying keys, peonies, waterlilies, and dragonflies, all intertwined to create a dreamy composition. The color palette was specified as soft pastels, with shades of blush pink, lavender, mint green, and sky blue to evoke a fresh and delicate springtime feel. The print needed to maintain a balanced, bohemian aesthetic with a touch of magic. I illustrated intricate flying keys with ornate details and paired them with dragonflies, their wings shimmering with subtle pastel gradients. These elements were placed amidst blooming peonies and serene waterlilies, creating a gentle interplay between floral and fantastical motifs. The pastel tones were carefully harmonized to ensure a cohesive look, using gradients and soft contrasts to add depth while maintaining an airy lightness. The layout alternated between key focal elements and delicate floral backgrounds, emphasizing the layered, patchwork style.
